The home of Beltin Good Beef

Croasdale House Farm, is a 980 ha Beef & Sheep hill farm near Slaidburn in the Forest of Bowland.   It is part of the United Utilities Bowland Estate, and is farmed by tenants Malcolm and Marty Handley along with their son Mick. They took on the tenancy in 1990, having lived and worked at Croasdale since 1983.

The farm is home to the Croasdale herd of Pedigree Belted Galloway's, as well as 900 Swaledale and Lleyn sheep and their crosses.  The cattle are very suited to the farm and they have been a vital component to the Environmental Stewardship through their conservation grazing, allowing more native plant species to grow, which in turn is  improving the array of wildlife on the farm.

Malcolm is a firm believer in the fact that farming for the environment can go hand in hand with a commercially run farm business, and is more than happy to show anyone who's interested exactly what has been achieved over the last 16 years under Natural England's Environmental Stewardship Schemes, which cease on farm in May 2017

Visitors are always welcome at Croasdale.
There are four footpaths that go through the farm, some  harder walking than others!

Getting British Business Online

The farm has held Educational  Visits to schools and clubs, which have kept the farm staff busy - to date we will have held over 400 visits. At the moment we are running a BTEC level 2 in Countryside and the Environment  for a local high school.

We  have a specially designed meat room with freezers up by the farmhouse, where  our Beltin Good Beef  can be bought, but it is essential to ring ahead to check someone is on farm to serve you. The meat in this room is frozen not fresh. Please see the Beef section on the site for prices and availability. Fresh meat can only be ordered in advance of our supply date.
